Suspended Labyrinth
"Suspended Labyrinth" is an interactive installation art piece by Anna Dal Pino exhibited in the theatre-gallery of Mariposa Studio at Project Artaud in San Francisco. Opening February 12, it will remain in place until March 15. Events include various opportunities to walk the path and view performance.
An innovative, contemporary take on an ancient form: the traditional labyrinth is drawn on the floor; this is suspended in mid-air. More than 150 yards of fabric and paper comprise the geometric panels hung from the ceiling, floating above the floor.
The concept is to change the planes of a traditional labyrinth in order to play with contrasts in space and perception, like moving through a painting. The piece will also be used as a set for performance. Highlights include performances by Bob Ernst, Nina Wise, Wendy Gilmore, Rob Bailiss, Norwegian storytellers, and others.
