Object Puppetry Theatre: The Artist's Approach to Research
Every object tells a story. The most obvious story emerges from the context of the object, but even more story emerges when we observe the way an object interacts with the world around it. In this contemplative workshop, participants will be guided through the process of object discovery through tactile observations of weight, balance, and the question What does the object want to do? We will examine the difference between the puppeteer leading the object, the object leading the puppeteer, and the puppeteer and object leading each other. This work is informed by the teachings of Alice Gottchalk, who was a student of Albrecht Rosser.
