Tucson Roller Derby is going back to where it all began! Join us on February 15th at the Tucson Indoor Sports Center (formerly known as Bladeworld) as the internationally-ranked Saddletramps face off against the Northern Arizona Roller Derby Whiskey Row-llers (Prescott). Old meets new in Season 11, as TRD undertakes some huge changes to make this the best season Tucson has ever seen. We are bringing our highest-ever level of play back to the place where so many of our fans first fell in love with us (and we, with them!). Maybe you remember the thrill of watching roller derby at Bladeworld, the energy that electrified crowds and teams alike, or maybe you merely wish you had been there the first time around. Either way, you're in luck! We're celebrating this homecoming bout with killer derby, great half-time shows, and an after party, all at TISC!
While most people celebrate the holiday with candy and romance, TRD believes Valentine's Day should be about showing love for everyone in our community. That is why February's charity of the month is Ride For Reading. Its mission is to promote literacy and healthy living through the distribution of books via bicycle to children from low-income neighborhoods. In low-income neighborhoods, the ratio of books per child is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children. Since its start in February 2008, RfR has donated more than 110,000 books, delivering them by bicycle to kids at Title I schools. TRD will be collecting gently used books for school-aged children at the February 15th bout. Anyone who donates a book at the bout will get a TRD sticker of their choice. Come support the Tucson Roller Derby Saddletramps February 15th as they battle against the mighty ladies of the NAZRD Whiskey Row-llers. Not only have the Tramps been hard at work building up the team, the league as a whole is thrilled to return to TRD's original home, so come check out all the excitement!
