Tales from the Altamaha Precious Memories... from the Attic to the Outhouse
Tales from the Altamaha 2022 production Precious Memories...from the Attic to the Outhouse Tales from the Altamaha is back, celebrating 16 years! April 21 - April 30, 2022, in downtown Lyons Georgia at the historic Blue Marquee Theater, 121 N State St. (US Hwy #1) This award-winning Georgia folk-life play is drawn from the writings of Colonel T. Ross Sharpe, a local attorney born and raised on the Altamaha River, who wrote a series of essays in the local newspaper during the 1950s and 60s about the settlers of the area around the river. Since 2005, Tales from the Altamaha has entertained audiences from all over the world with a different selection of Colonel Ross stories interwoven with traditional music performed by the River Rat Review Band. Once again you will have the opportunity to be transported back to a time when Southern traditions were just being forged. A project of Lyons Main Street, Tales from the Altamaha continues to be a cultural celebration steeped in the Southern traditions unique to rural South Georgia. Make plans now to embark on the ride of a lifetime as you experience the lives, loves, losses, scandals, and just plain ol gossip that are Tales from the Altamaha.
