PROGRAM: "Mid-Coast Corridor Light Rail Transit Project"
SPEAKER: Ramon Ruelas, PE, SANDAG Director of Mid-Coast Corridor
BIO:
A native San Diegan, Ramon Ruelas graduated from San Diego State University in 1985. He went to work for Caltrans in San Diego immediately upon graduating and worked there for over 16 years.
Ramon began working at MTDB in 2001 and transitioned over to SANDAG in 2003 as the result of legislation that consolidated the project planning and development functions of the two county transit agencies to SANDAG.
The focus of Ramon's career has been primarily within the Construction and Project Management fields with the responsibilities for managing a team of staff and consultants in the delivery of several transportation related projects within the San Diego Region. Some of which include:
-- The Mid-Coast Light Rail Extension
-- LOSSAN Rail Corridor Improvements
-- South Bay Bus Rapid Transit
-- Mid-City Bus Rapid Transit
-- Blue and Orange Line Trolley Renewal Program
-- The replacement of the Santa Margarita River Railroad Bridge
-- The Grantville and La Mesa Segment of the Mission Valley East Light Rail Extension
-- The extension of I-15 through the mid-city along 40th St.
-- The Seismic Retrofit of the Coronado Bay Bridge.
-- The completion of the Sweetwater River Flood Control Channel and SR-54 between I-5 and I-805
-- The widening and realignment of SR-54 from I-805 to Woodman Ave.
-- The widening and realignment of SR-76 from Oceanside to I-15
For the past year, Ramon has been the SANDAG Director of Mid-Coast Corridor, responsible for overseeing the implementation of multiple projects along the Mid-Coast Corridor with a combined construction cost exceeding $1.3 Billion.
