New London Maritime Society -- 38th Annual Meeting & Cruise
Let's talk about our restoration plans for Harbor, Ledge, & Race Rock Lights.
NLMS 38th Annual Meeting, Cruise, & dessert. Sunday, November 7, 2 PM Come for the meeting, then stay aboard for a memorable tour.
We meet on the 'Cecelia Ann', Cross Sound Ferry, 2 Ferry Street, New London, CT. Parking is available on the waterfront in the Cross Sound Ferry lot; the parking lot attendee will direct you.
Join us aboard the ferry for brief 20-minute Annual Meeting prior to the trip -- from 2 to 2:20 PM -- just 20 minutes! All NLMS members are welcome to attend the meeting (only) without charge.
After the meeting ticket-holders sit back and relax on a ferry ride out by our three lighthouses: New London Harbor Light, New London Ledge Light, and Race Rock. At each site, an authority on the specific lighthouse will explain current and future restoration projects. There will be delicious cake. We'll then take a spin around Fishers Island, and be back by 4:30 PM.
Special guests include Walter Sedovic & Jill H Gotthelf of Walter Sedovic Architects, who created the assessment and preservation plan for Race Rock Lighthouse in 2019. Our presentation of this plan was delayed due to COVID-19. Bruce Buckley, president of the Ledge Light Foundation, will bring us up-to-date on repairs to that lighthouse. Lighthouse aficionado Tedd Webb will serve as MC.
$15 for NLMS members, $20 all others, $5 children ages 7-18. Register online 24/7: brownpapertickets.com/event/3088408 or call 860-447-2501.
We follow all COVID-19 protocols. Everyone wears a mask. Masks. Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), FEDERAL LAW requires passengers to wear masks while indoors aboard the ferry or inside the ferry terminal building except while eating or drinking. Nothing in these rules requires the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to his or her health or safety due to a medical condition, disability, or by a child under the age of 2 years. Please follow the links above to review the latest information and guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New York and the State of Connecticut.
Thank you to Cross Sound Ferry for generously providing the boat.
