The Chamber Music of Dana Richardson no. 3
PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIRED (SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS)

The Chamber Music of Dana Richardson is characterized by a syntonal system of harmony that supports dramatic narrative and melodic lyricism.  Performed by cellist Peter Seidenberg and Craig Ketter, the Kol Nidre Variations is informed by the spiritual power of this traditional melody. Currently, Peter is the cellist for the Oracle Trio, the Queens Chamber Band, and the New York Chamber Soloists, and has collaborated with members of the Cleveland, Tokyo, Juilliard and Emerson Quartets.
Craig regularly joins forces with international singers and chamber groups. Venues include NPRs Performance Today series, CBS Sunday Morning, Sirius Satellite Radio, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall. Craig will also perform the solo works Three Rhapsodies and Espana which exploit the pianos extended palette of instrumental color imbued with melodic lyricism.
Susan Fancher and Mark Engebretson will perform the Little Suite for soprano and alto saxophones, which is a light-hearted take on unrequited love. A much sought-after performer of new music, Susan has inspired and premiered over 100 new works for saxophone and has performed in many of the worlds leading venues including Sala São Paulo, Carnegie Halls Weill Recital Hall, Londons Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Viennas Konzerthaus.
Mark is Professor of Composition and Electronic Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  As a performer, he is a member of the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet, and was for many years a member of the Vienna Saxophone Quartet. In addition to being a saxophone virtuoso who has recorded for Innova and Albany records, Mark is a composer who is a recipient of a Barlow Commission and commissions from Harvard Universitys Fromm Music Foundation among others.
Accompanied by Craig Ketter, the French Horn virtuoso Ryan Williamson will perform the Sonata for French Horn and Piano which displays the French Horn in its somewhat unusual role as chamber music solo instrument. Ryan has performed with the Montclair Orchestra, New Jersey Sinfonietta, and the Little Orchestra Society. He was formerly a member of Zephyrus Winds, winning first prize in the Wind Division of the 2017 Barnett Chamber Music Competition.
The music of Dana Dimitri Richardson, has been broadcast over more than 70 radio stations in the U.S. and Greece including WNYC and ERT, Athens. After earning a Ph.D. in Theory and Composition from New York University in 2001, he taught at Fredonia College and New York University. In 2009 his article Syntonality: A new System of Harmony was published in the first issue of the SCI online theory journal. It describes a technique for creating a sense of motion through comprehensible chord progressions in a modern context. The CD, Bonds of Life, of his syntonal rock music is available on Amazon. His music is regularly performed, in New York City, and internationally. Most recently he finished a symphony for large orchestra.
There will be a wine and cheese reception after the concert.
