Totem is the solo project of Boulder based producer, Phoenix Clay Michael. Phoenix has been playing eastern-style instrumentation for over a decade(tabla, doumbek, darbuki, didgeridoo, ric, native flute etc). With Totem, Phoenix explores the digital domain with rich melodies, psychedelic synths, and exotic instrumentation. Totem culminates these two passions into a modern interpretation of ancient instruments. The sampling style is deep and visceral. Blending sequences of thick bass and instrumentation with live production. Live production includes: Didgeridoo, vocals, synth, keyboard, percussion, and bass. Phoenix's debut album with Totem is titled, The Bonfire of Life, and was written as a motion of solidarity with the native tribes of North America. Totem sees the immense potency that dance has for healing in our culture, and also sees the reverent nature of ancient and native style music. David DeVine is Higherglyph - a world, temple bass, electronic, music producer originating from Boulder, Colorado. David was born and raised in Los Angeles where he discovered his passion for all things music. At the age of 14, David became a drummer and soon started his band Inmemory. That took him on a whirlwind of tours and shows and he quickly crystallized his purpose and intentions with music. "To invite people on a sonically refreshing experience". With his first purchase of turntables and DJ equipment, David became infatuated with the electronic music spectrum, and quickly immersed himself in the world of dropping beats and creating yummi altitudes. Now with over 10yrs experience in Djing, he has designed a unique DJ rig and hybrid, original production style. Jordan Jane and Jarrod Matthew formed the group in December of 2019 in pursuit of blending popular music genres with musician virtuosity. The group has influences from a variety of genres, Americana, Country, Pop, Rock, Prog, Classical, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Bluegrass, Metal, the list goes on and on. With such a variety of influences, the group is calling the sound Colorado Rock. Complementing the musical diversity and talent that exists in Colorado, and the influence the extraordinary state has had on them in general.
Relatable to groups like Zac Brown Band and the Allman Brothers, Jane and Matthews maintains an overall sense of amicable familiarity, keeping it catchy, simple, fun, yet undeniably and impressively musical. Kingdom Jasmine is the stage name for prolific singer-songwriter Bob Barrick, who, at 28 years old, has released three albums touching on rock, folk, and psychedelic influences. Having first made a name for himself in the Indianapolis punk scene as the front man for the noisy folk ensemble, Coyote Armada, it wasnt until he joined forces with Joshua Lee Turner in 2016 to record the eponymous Kingdom Jasmine that he found a wider audience.
Not long thereafter, the two moved from their home in Indianapolis, IN to Brooklyn, NY, where Turners long-time musical partner, Carson McKee, joined the fold. Led by Barricks sophisticated songwriting, the trio navigated the New York Music scene, notably landing a monthly residency at Petes Candy Store in Williamsburg. Within a year, they released Armed & Dangerous to great acclaim. When Turner and McKee turned their sights to their folk duo project, The Other Favorites, Barrick forged on as the sole creator behind Kingdom Jasmine.
Today, Barrick lives and creates in Boulder, CO, where he has staked his name on the thriving Colorado scene. Along the Front Range of the Rockies, he has opened for the likes of Josiah Johnson, Brett Dennen, and Grahame Lesh; and shared the stage with members of Elephant Revival. After a year of promoting his first independently-produced LP, Anyone Seen The Light?, he has launched a pseudo-album singles series entitled Brain Gravy to be rolled out throughout 2021.
