Elks Lodge Ghost Hunt
Our Ghost Hunts at the Elks Lodge located in Butte, Montana are not for the faint of heart.

Their residual energy is still embedded in these very walls, and the spirits here will let their presences be known.

Do you have the courage to venture off down the mazes of corridor, or will you simply take refuge in the haunted accommodation building?

Location History

On the Tiptoes of the Industrial Era, copper would become the most needed metal in the world.

Butte Montana would produce 30% of all the copper in the world during that time period.

Young miners from all over the world flooded into Butte, Montana, to work the richest copper mines in the world, eventually pushing its population to near 100,000 people.

Butte would be known by a number of monikers: The Black Heart of Montana, The Worlds Greatest Mining Camp and The Richest Hill on Earth.

With those, one can imagine Dodge Citys transition into a modern city. Many of these young men left family and home behind and would look elsewhere for a connection to community and friendship. That could be found in fraternal organization, especially the Elks.

The Benevolent and Protective order of the Elks came into existence in the Mining City 1892.  It was originally located on E. Quartz Street in uptown Butte, but quickly outgrew this site and was moved into a larger facility on Galena and Montana Street. During this time, 1000 members made up this fraternal organization.

For many young men, this was the only family they had so far away from home. One of the most active fraternal organizations in the state, its first exulted ruler was Michael C Reilly taking the helm in 1892. By 1924, construction began on a new Lodge that would accommodate its huge numbers.

As reported in the Butte Miner on December 22, 1925, the Elks Lodge meeting room would rank amongst the finest in the land and the street floor of this Lodge occupied by an automobile sales room and drugstore that were rented by the Elks Lodge to its occupants.

The main meeting room was said to be large enough to accommodate any gathering of its resident members. The lodge meeting room itself, constructed of oak and what they called Tiffany Design, the dance floor was made of maple.

The construction was truly elaborate for any mining city found in the country at that time.

Located in the northeast corner of this building was equipped with the latest furniture as well as some from the Elks Lodge on East Quartz. Located in the northwest corner of this deceiving large building is the billiards and cards room.

Counting this area, a total of three lounges and bars can be found in this building alone.

The Paranormal:

The Elks club is incredibly deceiving, similar to many other hauntings around the country, plain and simple it huge.

Within its walls to this day, the sounds of laughter and those former members enjoying their free time in the billiards and card room can be heard.

The Elks club was home to so many who had nothing left to call family. Membership in this fraternity was as heartfelt as family.

Recently found in the Elks Club of Butte was a large wood and copper covered book that contained etched on the inside of its copper pages all of its members who had passed up until 1926. It is also noted that the Exalted Rulers and members of prestige upon their death would lie in state in the main meeting room upstairs as a final farewell.

The energy from these past experiences can be felt instantly upon entering the gigantic meeting room. During its time, upstairs apartments were available to members.

Those that spend considerable time at the Elks now say that some of its occupants have never left.

Recent paranormal investigations have uncovered expansive evidence, EVPs, disembodied voices in the form of laughter and conversation as well as numerous pictures of orbs and unexplainable photographic anomalies.

Some of the bartenders speak of feeling uncomfortable when alone in the building and always feeling that someone else is with them or watching them, ready to order a drink from the past, to be enjoyed in the present.

This one is not for the faint of heart!
