During the mid-late 1990s the WWF took on an entirely new "Attitude". The pro wrestling landscape was changing so the company embraced a more edgy adult oriented creative approach to compete with rival WCW. Out of this new direction came various characters and personas that pushed the envelope. One of the most memorable of these new stars was a mysterious vampire known as Gangrel. As the leader of The Brood faction Gangrel and his associates, Edge and Christian, reeked havoc on their adversaries often leaving them covered in a bloodlike substance after a "bloodbath". He seemed to derive his power from the medieval chalice or goblet he carried to the ring filled with a thick red liquid. He would sip from this glass then spray the substance into the air sometimes covering the ringside fans in the audience. Then the fanged gladiator would attack his opponents with a fury often finishing them off with his devastating Impaler DDT maneuver.
