Two last-minute tickets are available for 2 PM Sunday, February 13.
Sit back and relax with some romantic jazz at our afternoon Soiree, when song stylist Lisa Marien performs with Bill 'Fox' Mills on guitar. Enjoy a mini-concert of jazz standards in a COVID-safe environment, all the while sipping prosecco and sampling delicious treats.
Lisa's songs were made popular by the likes of Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and more. There will be two 45-minute seatings, scheduled at 2:00 & 4:30 PM. Tickets are $40 each and strictly limited, $35 for NLMS members and $25 for youth ages 7-18. Reserve your ticket today!
(Lisa's) is a voice that flows like raw honey, and her supple way with lyrics and melody are a bewitching combination of homage and deeply personal interpretation.
Rick Koster, Arts and Culture reporter, The Day
There is a beautiful sincerity in Lisa Mariens voice, that everyone will find compelling!
John di Martino, Grammy nominated pianist/arranger/composer
(Her) voice is outstanding, so natural and effortless sounding and at the same time so refined.
Sylvie Abate, Song Cycle Management
Her voice soothes, excites, invites, and delights. Lisa Marien has this thing, this jazz vibe with beautiful phrasing and such great feel. Its a cross between Sarah Vaughan and Anita Baker, but she is her own person and has her own sound. Im sure you will agree, her voice will make your ears smile.
Norman Johnson, recording artist and engineer
Pre-pandemic, Lisa Marien released her debut album Just For Once, with Grammy nominated pianist John di Martino as her musical director/arranger/pianist, Vince Cherico on drums, Hans Glawischnig and James Hunter on bass, Paul Meyers on acoustic guitar, Steve Marien on saxophones, Miguel Rios, Jr. on percussion, Claude McKnight (founder/lead tenor of 10 time Grammy Award winning group Take 6) as her vocal coach, and the engineering talents of Grammy Award winner Christopher Sulit at Trading 8's Studio, and Norman Johnson at Manor Recording.
Lisa enraptures audiences with her smooth and intuitive jazz vocal stylings. She fuses her experiences and influences to present a repertoire of classic and contemporary song that pleases music lovers of all ages.
Listening to Lisa, you'll feel echoes of Sarah Vaughan's elegant phrasing, intertwined with the contemporary smoothness of Anita Baker: a warm, rich palette of sound that embraces you.
Over her career, Lisa has performed with world percussionist Royal Hartigan, with the New World Jazz Orchestra, with jazz ensemble The J Hunter Group, with The New London Big Band, with tribute group The Collective, with top 40 groups Odds On Favorite and After Hours, and with Christian artists Heart's Cry, Roy Maclean, Mary Shuttleworth, and Tower of Praise. When Lisa's not singing jazz, she's "on stage" with one of her favorite audiences: K-5 music students at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School in New London, CT.
