FACING THE SUN: Creating More Joy & Peace in Your Life Through Transformative Writing
So much conflict, anger, division, bad news, fake news--how in the world can we get and maintain joy and peace in the midst of it all? How can we stop feeling overwhelmed and discouraged and afraid? By employing a powerful tool: intentional writing exercises.
These exercises work because they cause us to stop, reflect, and gain deep insights about ourselves and our natural calling to be joyful and serene. The guided writing prompts in this workshop will help you to:
-Tune in to your unique joy channel by naming your gifts and taking concrete steps to use them in a bigger, more intentional way
-Identify and banish the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual strongholds that get in your way
-Discover the Essential Element necessary to spark joy consistently, even through the darkest times
-Immediately employ the tools, tips, and mindset that enable you to lighten up and burn bright
-Practice the principles and perspectives needed to cultivate a warm sense of calm, happiness, and purpose over a lifetime
FORMAT:
This three-hour workshop will be part-lecture, part-exercises, and all-the-way-real. We will end by taking a 3-minute stroll to the famous Love Locks Bridge. Once there, you'll be invited to "make your mark" on the bridge by leaving a message of importance to you (Industrial Sharpies will be provided for writing on the bridge). Those so inclined will also be invited to toss a flower into the beautiful river confluence below as a symbolic way of letting something go. From there, we'll amble over to a nearby restaurant for fellowship and fun--and lots of laughter.
You will love Historic Downtown Rome as well. Three rivers, seven hills, cool shops and eateries. Lots to explore!
CLASS SIZE WILL BE LIMITED to ensure the best experience. No need to worry about COVID: we will be small in number and in an expansive, high-ceilinged room that can hold several hundred people.
SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE. Excited to announce that the Mary Massey Memorial Scholarship is available to someone who could not otherwise afford to attend this workshop. Email Lauretta at hannonlauretta@gmail.com for details on how to apply.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
In short, my aim is to get you closer to your flame.
To help you become more joyful, free, peaceful, authentic, and wild.
This is at the heart of my writing, mentoring, teaching, speaking, everything.
Why? Because I have been on the other side. A childhood full of darkness. Mental, spiritual, and material poverty. Surrounded by hurting people who were hurting others. Yet I noticed that humor and laughter and lightness could puncture that darkness, even if just for a moment. That even a speck of gratitude in the midst of the suffering could let the sun in.
These revelations--along with a real need to do the healing work of telling my story--led to the writing of The Cracker Queen: A Memoir of a Jagged, Joyful Life. To my astonishment, six New York publishing houses were vying for the book, and it sold at auction! It became a bestseller three weeks after its release.
In the course of connecting with readers, I began to discern my calling. As I traveled across the country giving talks and workshops, I kept getting the same questions: How are you so joyful, especially after everything you've been through? And how can I get there?
I have spent the last twelve years exploring the answer. It has put me on a path of transformation, a transformation that I want for everyone. Every. One.
But let me be clear: I am no guru or authority on high. Instead, look at me as your spirited companion on the road of shadow and light. It's a road I know well--for I know both where the bandits are hiding--and how to locate the treasure along the way.
So if you feel even the slightest tug or spark while reading this, consider it your invitation to join me on this marvelous adventure. We will dive deep and go through some grit, but the pearls shall be ours to claim.
