Today, more and more employees identify as transgender, non-binary or gender nonconforming (TGNCNB). Yet, many managers are ill-equipped to support employees through gender transitions or to answer questions from team members about gender diverse interns or new hires. How can supervisors create teams that foster inclusion and belonging so you can be an employer of choice for this rapidly growing demographic? And given the Supreme Courts 2020 Title VII ruling, how do managers ensure non-discrimination against TGNCNB employees in order to be federally compliant?
Through this interactive training, managers and supervisors will:
- Learn how to interact respectfully with trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary employees (offensive terms/actions to avoid, respectful words/pronouns to use, and more)
- Acquire resources to facilitate their teams knowledge of respectful interactions with gender diverse co-workers
- Be equipped to recognize and address microaggressions against gender diverse employees
- Understand the workplace implications of the 3 aspects of transitioning (social, legal, physical)
- Learn their specific responsibilities in supporting a TGNCNB employee through a gender transition
- Know what to say (and not to say) when an employee shares their plan to transition in the workplace and/or a request for transition-related medical leave
- Be equipped to answer various questions from team members (sharing restrooms; personal or religious beliefs)
- Know the importance of confidentiality and how to not out someone
