Ormao Dance Company Salon Showings
Salon Showings by Ormao Dance Company, come pamper your artistic side! Gather and discuss modern dance as they did in the 17th century! We invite you to join Ormao Dance Company dancers, choreographers, lighting designers, videographers and other creative individuals for an evening inspired by life itself. Choreographers explore themes of compassion, isolation, heritage, family and FUN. A series of three showings will take place in the intimate setting provided by Ormao studios with limited seating on November 15-17. Choreography by Jan Johnson, Stephanie Kobes, Tsui-Shuang Lai, Tiffany Tinsley Weeks and Mollie Wolf.

Reality Inherited Choreographer: Mollie Wolf A letter to a mother. Another round of chemotherapy. A daughter's premonition. A journey across the ocean. A laughing child. Moments that blur the line between memory and fantasy, yet somehow still define our every thought and action. Created in collaboration with performer, Aoi Koenig and video artist, Danny Beard, Reality Inherited is a biographical, durational, multi-media installation performance that explores the ways that memories evolve, the tendency for fantasies to become realities, and the residual matrilineal pain that is passed from generation to generation.
On the Verge of Choreography: Stephanie Kobes "On the Verge of. . ."explores the arc that confines us, between flying and falling, between promise and hopelessness, between life and death.
Move Choreography: Tiffany Tinsley Weeks For the love of all things retro! TTW's newest work is a fun little ditty combining social dancing from the 1950's with modern music.
Per essere abbracciato Choreography: Jan Johnson Would you rather be held or hold someone? A journey exploring the power of embrace, we hold and are held, we push away and we pull towards as layers of past relationships accumulate and color the moments. How do you respond?
Atmosphere Choreography: Tsui-Shuang Lai Family. Sometimes it can be a microcosm of society. There are moments within a home of harmony amongst differences, but there can also be estrangement and suspicion.............A family that appears perfect on the outside may not know each other's inner world and the inconsistencies of each individual's external presentation and their true feelings. Perhaps if these inconsistencies were revealed, suspicion and jealousy would not exist.
