Northumberland - Little Cog Disability Equality Training
Led by Little Cogs Artistic Director, Vici Wrenott- Sinnott, who is a leading figure in the UK Disability Art sector, this supported, solution-focused session will look at removing barriers to the arts for members of our communities. It will support individual practitioners and organisations to understand more about disability and what change can look like, with some simple things you can do to make a start in bringing greater engagement, richer stories and larger audiences of disabled people. The session will ask: what might new models of practice, and new relationships with disabled people look like for you and your work?
Little Cog is a disabled-led theatre company founded by Artistic Director Vici Wreford-Sinnott in 2011. The company seeks to put the hidden stories and experiences of disabled people centre-stage, whilst challenging entrenched historical and medical perceptions of disability and disabled people. They explore and celebrate an extraordinary social phenomenon with phenomenally talented disabled theatre actors, writers, artists, designers, thinkers and practitioners. They aim to complete the contemporary cultural landscape with beautiful, powerful, witty and challenging work. We explode the stage with new protagonists, new narratives and new or forgotten stories.
Session is £8 per person and is open to freelancers living and/or working in Northumberland.
This session is part of Creative Catalyst Northumberland; a professional development training programme for Northumberland creative organisations and freelancers to encourage listening, learning, personal growth, change and allyship.
Creative Catalyst Northumberland is led by Mortal Fools and supported by Northumberland NCC, Queens Hall, Hexham and The Maltings, Berwick.
