Gallery Suite Jazz Series Season Finale
Welcome to the Gallery Suite Jazz Series! Experience a unique, intimate music showcase in a hip, urban raw studio space hosted by saxophonist Phil Denny. Open wood ceiling, hardwood floors and exposed brick walls create the ideal space for a night of cool jazz.
You and your guest can expect the finest level of artistry from musical talents from around the state, bordering states and Canada. With a limited seating capacity, people present will feel as though the music is being performed just for them.
This month's featured artist is saxophone and vocalist Marqueal Jordan. Chicago-based artist and Los Angeles native, Marqueal Jordan is the rare musician who is blessed with the gift of being equally proficient as an instrumentalist and a vocalist. His distinctive saxophone tone and style, combined with his soulful vocals, places him in the tradition of legendary dual talents, Donny Hathaway and George Benson. Marqueal (pronounced Mar-KWELL) is intent on following in the footsteps of these giants on his upcoming debut CD, "Catalyst". In 2008, Smooth Jazz star Brian Culbertson asked Marqueal to join his touring band and he has since continued to captivate audiences around the world with his talents. As a sideman, he's performed live with a number of major artists such as Gerald Albright, Patti Austin, Average White Band, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, Nick Collione, Eric Darius, George Duke, Aretha Franklin, Larry Graham, Earl Klugh, Dave Koz, Jeff Lorber, Najee, Phil Perry, David Sanborn, Gerald Veasley, and Kirk Whalum. Marqueal is featured on Brian Culbertson's DVD, "Live from the Inside"; and also on a current collaborative release with Chicago legend, DJ INC, entitled "Sounds Cool".
