Old School/New School, Featuring Tsoutsoris & May
The Live Lit/Storytelling phenomenon has exploded over the past several years in Chicago, but personal narrative is nothing new to the artists who have been practicing their craft over the last several decades.

These two generations will come together on November 16th to explore their common ground in a night of storytelling.

Jim May is an internationally-known master teller and founder of Illinois Storytelling.

Natasha Tsoutsouris is a powerhouse from the recent wave who put up her first solo show to sold-out houses.

Together, they will weave the stories of their life experiences into a seamless, cohesive performance piece right on front of your eyes.

Don't miss this opportunity to see it all come together.

BIOS:

JIM MAY is an Emmy Award-winning storyteller and writer. His collection of stories, from his growing up in Illinois, THE FARM ON NIPPERSINK CREEK, won a "Best Book" award from the Public Librarian Association.  He is cofounder of the Illinois Storytelling Festival and for 20 years it's artistic director. He was inducted into the National Storytelling "Circle of Excellence" (Hall Of Fame) in the year 2000.  He has toured the U.S. and Europe telling his stories at storytelling and folk festivals, as an artist/author-in-residence at schools and universities, and in nonprofit and corporate venues. His workshops and seminars emphasize the role of myth, story, and culture in the personal, family and community context.  Recent publications include an article in LITERACY AND THE STORYTELLING CLASSROOM, Sherry Norfolk, Jane Stenson, and Diane Williams, Editors (Libraries Unlimited,2009),  and most recently, in 2010, his story "Christmas Eve In The Barn" appears in  CHRISTMAS IN ILLINOIS, a University of Illinois Press publication that also includes stories by Carl Sandburg, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Mike Royko.

NATASHA TSOUTSOURIS is a writer and performer. She has been a regular on the storytelling circuit, telling at events such as This Much is True, StoryLab, Here's the Story and Story Sessions, just to name a few. One of her stories can be found on the Story Sessions podcast on iTunes. Natasha's solo show, "Tashie's Choice", enjoyed success with  two sold out runs here in Chicago and was recently produced by the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan.
