Living On the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages
'Living on the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages prepares participants with the knowledge necessary to develop a sustainable property management plan. This 8-week class series will take place on Tuesdays evenings, Oct 20 - December 15, 7:30pm--8:30pm (EXCEPTIONS: 6:00pm-8:30pm on October 27th and December 15th) and will be fully online via Zoom.(NOTE: there will be no class Tuesday November 3rd, because it is election day)
Class Schedule, each evening form 7:30-8:30, unless otherwise noted (subject to change slightly): -October 20 Overview of Farming in Clark County and Value-Added Products -October 27 (6:00pm-8:30pm) Protecting Septic & Well Water (get certified to self-inspect) -November 3 NO CLASS - Election Day -November 10 Managing Forested Land and Agroforestry -November 17 Managing Soil to Keep It Productive -November 24 What To Do About Weeds -December 1 Wildlife and Habitat Management -December 8 Watershed Stewardship -December 15 (6:00pm-8:30pm) Pasture Management

Objectives: Participants in the Living on the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages program will: - Understand the difference between renewable and nonrenewable soil, water, plant, and animal resources. - Increase skill levels in six core competency areas: land use planning and inventorying resources, soil sustainability, water sustainability, plant sustainability and management, animal sustainability and management, and stewardship. - Build an understanding and technical expertise related to managing small acreage resources. - Identify key Best Management Practices (BMPs) to implement on their acreages and in their community.
