Elizabeth Becker is the author of Overbooked: The Exploding Business of Travel and Tourism (Simon & Schuster, 2013), which celebrates the best of tourism in countries like France and Costa Rica and explores negative impacts aboard cruise ships and in places like Venice and Cambodia. Becker shows how travel and tourism has become one of the world's biggest industries, with profound and potentially destructive impacts on countries, the environment and cultures.

Elizabeth Becker has covered national and international affairs as a Washington correspondent at The New York Times, the Senior Foreign Editor at National Public Radio and a Washington Post correspondent. She began her career as a war reporter in Cambodia in 1972 as one of only two western journalists to meet Pol Pot while in power, is the author of When the War was Over (1986), a history of modern Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge, for which she won a Robert F. Kennedy Book citation, and of America's Vietnam War (1992), a narrative history for young adults.
