Gathering in Grief: Stories & Conversation in Uncertain Times
Gathering in Grief is an online series that holds space to explore themes around grief that may be arising during this time. We know that grief is not only experienced in bereavement. So how do we process the breadth of emotions that arise when faced with a sudden shift in how we exist in the world? When letting go of plans and dreams that we had laid out before us? When facing a seemingly unending challenge?
Each week we will introduce a traditional story that speaks to a theme of grief; think anger, sadness, bargaining... As a group we'll discuss each story to see what wisdom emerges, what the story might highlight in the world around us and what might be bubbling up within ourselves. It will be a space of listening, reflection and connection.
We believe firmly in the medicine and gift of story and have witnessed first hand the power of connecting through our personal stories, even (perhaps especially) when things are tough. Our vision is to acknowledge our feelings and know we're not alone during this time, while being inspired by traditional stories.
LOGISTICS
This will be a 6-week series beginning on April 30th. We'll meet through Zoom each week for about 1.5-2 hours, from 6:30pm-8:30PM BST. We have a limited number of spaces (max 12) and we are asking that each person journeys with us for as many of the sessions as possible [ideally all of them!]. This is to foster safety and connection within the group.
PAYMENT
In order to accommodate a range of incomes, we are offering tickets on a sliding scale. You choose what to pay based on your personal circumstance and we've provided some very light guidance. We won't ask for proof but we just ask that you are honest! If the lowest tier is a challenge for you please get in touch via email to discuss payment plans or lower income pricing.
WHY ARE WE CHARGING
Since COVID-19, we've lost of all of our income streams and as a small social enterprise that puts us in a very tough position. We are adapting to online offerings and hope this can help us keep Real Talk running. Your contribution will go towards the running of a not-for-profit organisation. We are also so excited about the power and potential of this series and hope you will too!
