Shawn Woods Benefit Concert
Shawn Woods is a self-employed carpenter/contractor, who lives in Bourne with his wife and three young children. He has been unable to work since December 2018. He is a small business owner, taking on most jobs on his alone, and has no crew of employees to keep any income rolling in.
Shawn was diagnosed in December 2018 with advanced stage oral squamous cell carcinoma. At that time the doctors felt positive that the cancer was caught early. In February 2019 he had a 16-hour surgery to remove 60% of his lower left jaw. Bone was also removed from his leg to reconstruct his jaw. This was followed by radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He had a very long recovery from this surgery, was finally beginning to feel better, and ready to start lining up the jobs. Then in September 2019 during a follow up scan, the doctors found a new spot in his jaw bone. This same cancer has become very aggressive, and the doctors now give Shawn a 25% chance to beat it.
There will be a benefit concert this Spring to help raise money to support Shawn and his family through this trying time, hosted by Inspiration Is Everywhere and a group of Shawns close friends.
