RBPC Annual Women's Retreat 2020
You're invited to the Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church Annual Womens Retreat on Saturday, April 25, from 9:00-1:30pm at beautiful IslandWood! This years retreat will feature two guest speakers, Rev. Chelsea Globe and local poet and woman of faith, Carrie Beyers, MFA, who will present on this biblical truth: we are women of worth! Each of these young, dynamic women will speak on finding fulfillment and joy in our lives by first claiming our worth. Carrie will share her poetry and offer an optional writing activity exploring what our life stories and generational histories have to teach us about who we are and what we have to offer the world. The program portion of our retreat will end with a delicious lunch prepared by the world-class chefs at IslandWood, but attendees are welcome to stay until 3:30pm to enjoy fellowship in a beautiful surrounding and special IslandWood tours.

Featured Speakers:
Rev. Chelsea Globe is a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She most recently served at Christ Lutheran Church in Federal Way for five years and is currently on leave from call to spend more time at home with her two little kids (Jack, 4, and Cora, 2) as she discerns what the Spirit has in store for her next. Chelsea and her spouse Bill Kallio make their home in West Seattle, where they enjoy trips to Husky Deli for ice cream, Lincoln Park for riding bikes, and Alki Beach for playing in the sand. Chelsea is most passionate about children, youth and family ministry, womens and gender-justice issues, and helping congregations connect with their communities.

Carrie Beyer is a Bainbridge Island poet and essayist who writes about mothers and motherhood, adoption, racial bias and reconciliation, and the intersections of faith and culture. She graduated from Pacific University with a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and recently launched her new business as a personal writing mentor. She and her spouse Kyle have three children--Isaiah, Betsinat, and Ray. Carrie grew up in the Kansas fields and prairies, alongside her farmer father and German immigrant mother. Her obsessions are food, solitude, barren land, and the body, especially the mother's body, for how it holds, speaks, and regenerates.
