"Margaret where have you been all my life?" No one had ever called me that before because it wasn't my name. His real name was Agamamnon Perez Jr.
But he shortened it to Scotty because he thought Agamemnon sounded too Cuban.

Producers said I'd be the next Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. But when I got in the recording booth, I never had enough soul. The voice they called pretty just didn't seem to fit in my brown body. Should I break my voice trying to sing like the Queen of Soul, or should I sing what felt good and disappoint my people: opera! Or, maybe it would be better to just never sing again!
