Classical Arts Film Festival: FILM BLOCK FOUR

A festival hightlight: The Short Films Block reflects the diverse mission of the Classical Arts Film Festival. It celebrates the journey of lives dedicated to the classical arts.

Films (Alphabetical order):

Directed by Raúl Koler & Emiliano Sette
Produced by Emiliano Sette, Yashira Jordán, Francisco Zamudio
Animation direction by Ezequiel Suarez Greck
Anacronte and the Sorcerers of Evil, without any emotion and fulfilling their destiny, they put to test humanity's happiness in a struggle that, in short, has each of us as winners and losers.

Andrianne Gonzalez:  Lyrical Painter
Directed by Abby Russell
In this short subject documentary we follow artist and musician Adrienne Gonzalez along with filmmaker Abby Russell as they take us through Adriannes process of attempting to connect with her audience on as many levels as possible.  The transformation of abstract ideas into concrete visuals explores the difference between the conceptual and the emotional and how those two rarely occupy the same space.  Her results are stirringly affective.

The Colorblind Artist
Directed and Produced by Carlo Caldana
Artist Kevin Richard Brown narrates this inspiring story about his quest to overcome color-blindness and the technique he uses to paint landscapes in full colors.

Confessions of a Whittler
Directed by Sarvshrest Singh
A sculptor attempts to perfect her craft.

Directed and Produced by Deb Ethier
A joyous and lighthearted animated celebration of dance and art set to an adaptation of the lilting third movement (Allegro) from Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6.

Directed by Viktoria Szemeredy
Produced by Terez Koncz
A psychologist and a painter interpret the works of young autistic people at an exhibition opening. Their conversation seems to target the abstract paintings, however, their real topic is the elusive and constantly changing dynamics of their relationship.

Directed and produced by Andrew Margetson
A strikingly intimate study of the great classical ballerina Marianela Nuñez as she dances to Nina Simone, choreographed by Will Tuckett.

The Piano Teacher
Directed by Ryan W Daniels
This short documentary is a poetic look at life, age and memory. Few people progress enough in any art form to reach such a pinnacle of performance and renown, but with time even the most masterful regress. Skills fade and memories vanish until we return to a childlike state and await that final curtain.

The Reckoning Of Darkness
Directed by Christopher Kulikowski
Produced by John Paul Pettinato & Christopher Kulikowski
The sole survivor of a shipwreck washes ashore on an island at the extreme north of the British Isles. The survivor, Victor, is restored to health by the local inhabitants but guards the secrets of his haunted past and of an evil which has found its way to this remote world, hell-bent on vengeance. So starts the dramatic and violent chain of events in which the tale of Victors sinister experiments gradually emerges.

Rumspringawakening: Lopera ragazzo Amish (a short film opera)
Directed by Adam Taylor
Produced by Obadiah Baker
With the help of a failed Broadway actress, a wide-eyed Amish teen sings his way to adulthood on his Rumspringa through New York City.

The Stop
Directed and Produced by Liudmila Komrakova
After a dispute in the car, a woman exits and goes to the bus stop. There she meets another and it is love at first sight - then the driver returns...

Vaishnava- Being Humane
Directed by Rukshana Tabassum
Produced by Mridusmita Das
India is a nation with Unity in Diversity. Multiculturalism is rooted in its 5000 years old Indian civilization and its heterogeneous culture has evolved through centuries. Composite culture in India has been propagated by various Saints in various times in their works. One such Saint was the Adi-Kavi of Gujarat, Narsinh Mehta, who wrote about humanity, truth, purity of mind, to respect all living beings in his poem Vaishnav Jan to. Notably, around the same time in Assam, another great Saint, Srimanta Sankardeva promoted the same philosophy in holy Kirtana. Srimanta Sankardeva not only incorporated such philosophy in the text Kirtana but also practised those principles in real life and succeeded in bringing people with different religious background and community associations under one roof of neo-vaishnavism through the institution of Naamghar. Such principles have time and again attributed towards national integration in India.
