SLAMJUNK Presents: Jake Sherman | Kami Maltz | Rosemary Minkler
Born in Boston, JAKE SHERMAN learned classical piano by listening to his father play Bach every morning. If not for an intervention - stumbling upon the catalog of Weird Al Yankovic at 11 years old - he would have followed in his fathers path or perhaps become a jazz purist.  But Weird Al changed everything. Jake started a parody band and sang his newly-written lyrics to classics like All Star by Smashmouth and Men in Black by Will Smith, along with composing new family classics such as Amy, Youre Turning 49 and Charles, Charles Sherman.

Fast forward some years beyond his time studying at Berklee College of Music and its clear Jake has found a way to combine his appreciation of great songwriting with his piano/organ-playing prowess. He has become a go-to musician on recordings, and tours for artists including Meshell Ndegeocello, Bilal, Andrew Bird and Nick Hakim. Chance the Rappers Grammy-winning song No Problem includes some of Jakes work.

More recently, Jake has re-tapped his well of musicality and songmaking to create his upcoming album, Jake Sherman Gets Sexy. Due out in March 2020, the album is a journey through modern dating and relationships, with a point of view that is somehow both poignant and Weird Al-esque.

Brooklyn based Kami Maltz brings the resonance of her native Israel, the passion of her second home, Argentina, and a decidedly New York electronic vibe to her performance. With a smooth voice and her autoharp, Kami conjures a sensuous combination of folk and indie elements, with an added touch of cotton-candy, pop embellishments.

"Kami Maltz has wowed listeners with her smooth voice, her blending of folk and electronic elements, and her ability to craft songs about complex emotions through catchy hooks and poetic lyrics. Her new single "Kingdom" has all of that" - The Deli

"Kami Maltz captures the same brooding energy as Chvrches on her new single" - Mystic Sons

"Imagine Joanna Newsom's voice on top of the swirling instrumentals of a Lorde song. That sums up Kami Maltz's music in a nutshell. The Brooklyn singer/songwriter released a new single chock full of that hypnotizing sound... it sports masterful production bringing out the humming basses and ethereal synths" - The Deli

"On The Loose by Brooklyn-based Kami Maltz takes a less is more approach to its organic-sounding arrangement, allowing the listener to create their own shadows and light by exploring the uncertain imagery in the lyrics and understated musical tones" - Electronic North

"Kami combines the familiarity of folk music with a twist curated by electronic elements. Channeling Haim meets Lorde On the loose is an expressive mood altering tune" - Northern Transmissions

Born and raised in Waterbury, CT, Rosemary Minkler is an accomplished pianist, composer, and audio engineer. She grew up surrounded by music and began studying piano at an early age, discovering her passion for jazz at the Litchfield Jazz Camp.
