The Poetry and Works of Langston Hughes
Join us to honor Black History Month with a special performance of the poetry and works Langston Hughes, featuring Charles Williams, celebrated vocalist, accompanied by Gary Prince on guitar. Langston Hughes, poet, novelist, playwright, lyricist and activist was one of the earliest innovators of the literary art form know as Jazz Poetry.
Charles Williams is well known throughout the region for his portrayal of Langston Hughes' works. Through his music and verbal interpretation, we get a glimpse into one of the most important writers and thinkers of the Harlem Renaissance movement.
The performance is Sunday, February 9 at 3PM at the Mount Vernon Unitarian Church, 1901 Windmill Lane, Alexandria. Call 703-765-5950 for more information.
