EAST Presents "Finding Your Voice": A Weekend Retreat - SOLD OUT
Episcopal Asian Supper Table (EAST) is excited to host our first retreat. This retreat begins with supper on February 28, 6pm ET, through March 1, approximately 1pm ET.
We have planned a restful weekend retreat exploring what it means to be "other" in the church, at work, and in the world. Includes clergy reflections, contemplative prayer, and fellowship.
Our retreat leader is former EAST board member Rev. Peggy Lo. She is a recent graduate of Yale Divinity School, where she received prizes in recognition of her preaching and ecclesiastical leadership. She was ordained to the diaconate in the Diocese of California in June, and her ordination is sponsored by Grace Cathedral, San Francisco. Later, she was also ordained into the priesthood at Grace Cathedral in November.
Prior to attending seminary, she had a career in nonprofit administration and then in translation. For six years, she worked for the Public Interest Network as a campus organizer, central recruitment administrator, budget administrator and online organizer. This took her to Amherst, Boston, and then Denver. Then for nine years, she worked for the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation as a translator and editor of Buddhist lectures, and she also helped design workshops based on them.
In seminary, she did field placements in New York, first with the Episcopal Churches in Harlem through the Church of the Heavenly Rest, and then with the Congregation of Saint Saviour at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. She graduated from Stanford University with an AB in Psychology and minor in Asian American Studies.
It is truly a blessing to be in her presence and have her guide us through this special weekend retreat. Reserve your spot today!
All faiths and ethnicities welcome. Food & lodging included in registration fee. Free parking available.
Note: the retreat center is accessible via public transportation. Take the free Staten Island Ferry from Manhattan (1 to South Ferry, R/W to Whitehall St.). When you arrive at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, go to Concourse C to transfer to the S78 bus (at the end of the concourse).
Take the bus to Hylan/Fingerboard. Exit the bus and turn left on Fingerboard Rd. Then turn right on Columbia Ave. The St. Joseph Retreat Center entrance is at the end of Columbia Ave.
Google Maps may give you different directions, just make sure to use the Columbia Ave entrance since other entrances will most likely be locked.
