6th Public Ghost Investigation at Oakland's Pardee Home Museum

Three generations of the same family lived and died in the Pardee Home from the time of its completion in 1869 until the death of Miss Helen Pardee in 1982. The house has been preserved exactly how it was when Miss Helen made her final exit.

Our first five Ghost Investigations have been very successful. Everyone had such a good time that we decided to do it again. Please bring your digital recorders, cameras, EMF meters, or just your curiosity to the Pardee Home Museum for an opportunity to hunt ghosts in this historic home led by Karen Zimmerman, an experienced ghost investigator and paranormal author. Once again we will have a spirit circle conducted by Linda Grindel, a fifth-generation psychic medium who traces her talent to her Great, Great, Great Grandmother Sen-O-Ya, a Comanche psychic!

Karen and her fellow investigators will lead the search for evidence of spirits within the Pardee Home Museum. Karen has published a book - Ghost Stories and Legends of Alameda, Berkeley, and Oakland - that contains an entire chapter on the Pardee Home. In several investigations at the museum a number of EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) have been recorded, jackets and shirts tugged, and a mist photographed sitting in a chair. As with our last investigation, Karen will be providing a personal pendulum which each person will be trained to use to interact with the spirits of the Pardee Home.

Linda has been doing psychic readings since 1980. She was born in Georgia, her father of Irish/Scottish decent and her mother of Comanche/Mexican decent. Her mother took her to the Tribe when she was born where they were told she had the third eye. She is a registered Comanche Indian and is still doing personal readings in Benicia at Angel Heart 4 You (http://angelheart4you.net/).

GROUND RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION:

This is a fund-raising event for the Pardee Home Museum.

We are limiting the group to 18 people to improve the experience for everyone involved. Much of the investigation will be "in the dark" so be sure to bring a flashlight. There will be some light coming through the windows from outside so the rooms will not be in complete darkness.

As we do not allow people to sit on our historical furniture everyone will be expected to either sit on the floor, on a personal pillow or small portable seat they bring with them. A limited number of chairs may be available for those who prefer one.

The house is multi-story. We do have an ADA qualified lift to allow access to the main floor. The second and the top tower floors, however, are only accessible by narrow staircases. No further accommodations are available to allow people unable to climb the stairs to reach these upper levels.

The group will be split into up to three subgroups to cycle everyone throughout the house to maximize investigation of each floor or area. The groups would be cycled between the main floor, second floor and the tower room spirit circles.

Please dress warmly if it is cold outside, as we do not turn the house heater on. Also, please wear rubber or other soft-soled shoes to minimize the noise as you walk around. Similarly, no "clanking jewelry" or perfume so as not to scare away anyone or anything that may be nearby, and so as to not conflict with any personal experiences or recorded evidence.

This is an event for adults 18 years of age or older. Each person attending must have purchased a ticket.

Recommended ghost-hunting equipment includes a digital or film camera, tape or digital recorder, dowsing rods, pendulums, K2 and other EMF meters and any other equipment you care to use that does not disturb the experience of the other participants.

At some time midway through our investigations we will take a break to discuss what we have all experienced. Our volunteers will provide everyone some food and drinks at that time. The homemade treats really were a hit during our prior events and I am sure you will find them tasty as well.

Please note that Karen, Linda and the other investigators have generously offered their service to the Pardee Home for this event. All of the money for the ticket price of $50 will go to the Pardee Home. Ticket sales will stop 6 hours prior to our event.
