Eliot Katz, Alicia Ostriker, & Jim Cohn poetry reading
--Called another classic New Jersey bard by the late Allen Ginsberg, Eliot Katz is the author of seven books of poetry, including Love, War, Fire, Wind and Unlocking the Exits, which includes a long poem, Liberation Recalled, that explores the experiences and legacy of Katzs late mothers history as a Holocaust survivor.  Katzs most recent prose book is The Poetry and Politics of Allen Ginsberg. Katz has worked for many years as an activist for a wide range of peace and social-justice causes, including helping to create several housing and food programs for homeless families in Central Jersey that remain ongoing. Katz was part of the first reading ever held at the Bowery Poetry Club, just before the clubs official opening, a reading for Long Shot magazine's tribute issue to Gregory Corso. His website is at www.eliotkatzpoetry.com

--Alicia Ostriker's most recent collections of poetry are The Old Woman, the Tulip and the Dog, and Waiting for the Light, for which she received the National Jewish Book Award for Poetry.  As a critic she is the author of Stealing the Language: The Emergence of Women's Poetry in America.  She is currently a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, and the New York State Poet Laureate.  After 50 years in New Jersey, she loves living in The City--back to her roots. --Jim Cohn, coming to the BPC from Colorado, is the author of ten books of poetry, three works about poetics, and eight spoken word music recordings. In 2021, he will release Treasures For Heaven, a major compilation of his poetry. Jim was a one-time teaching assistant to Allen Ginsberg at Naropa University in 1980, and he has worked extensively to promote American Sign Language poetry, efforts that were documented in a film by Miriam Lerner entitled The Heart of the Hydrogen Jukebox. Jim has edited two small press poetry magazines: ACTION (1983-1986) and Napalm Health Spa (1990-2015), and has created one of the most comprehensive websites of contemporary poetry, the Museum of American Poetics (poetspath.com).
