Mortiis himself, legendary synth pioneer, emerges from his home country of Norway to make an unforgettable appearance in San Luis Obispo! Havard Ellefsen got his start among the storied milieu of original Second-wave Black Metal in the Norwegian scene of the early 90s before moving on from playing with Emperor to eschew tremolo-picked guitars and craft his own dark fantasy world using only synthesizers, effectively creating the Dungeon Synth genre as we know it today. Deemed dark dungeon music by its creator, this dark ambient style evokes high fantasy and impressionistic medieval atmospheres and is the perfect soundtrack to role-playing games or simply taking ones mind on a journey through deep realms of the imagination. Mortiis upcoming album, Spirit of Rebellion, represents a triumphant return to the evocative ambiance of his revolutionary early albums, known lovingly by fans the world over as Era 1, combining the driving force of martial industrial rhythms with the earnest intensity of black metal and the expressive melodies of RPG soundtracks.
