Pa Dutch Pocket Workshop
Colonial women carried valuables in pockets which tied around their waists under their petticoats. Victorian women continued wearing them to safeguard valuables while traveling.
This workshop examines 18th and 19th century pockets with emphasis on characteristics found in those of south eastern PA.

Choosing from a selection of pre-cut fabrics, students will hand piece their pocket front and construct a full-sized pocket. Show above is one of several pocket shapes and piecing ideas available.

Class fee includes pre-cut fabrics for front; lining & backing fabrics; tape; thread;

Please bring to the workshop:  needles, pins, thimble if used, water soluble marking pen, tape measure, thread & fabric scissors; your lunch and beverage.

Check in at the Landis Valley Museum Store by 9:45 a.m.  Class is located upstairs.

Please note that class size is limited.

Cancellation Policy:  All materials must be pre-purchased by the instructor; therefore, cancellations can only be refunded prior to sales-end date.  Refunds can be requested through Brown Paper Tickets up to 12 hours after purchase.  After that grace period and before the sales-end date, refunds will be issued via a paper check from the Landis Valley Associates, less a $20 non-refundable processing fee.  Please contact landisvalley@gmail.com or 717-569-0401 to request your refund.
