Dortn Vu es Nekhtikn di Shtern (Where the Stars Spend the Night)
Poet and Partisan of the Vilna Ghetto Avrom Sutzkever has enjoyed a renaissance in the decade following his death, particularly with this year's award-winning biographical movie Black Honey, telling the story of his life and his time in the ghetto, and how his poetry reflects them.

In Dortn Vu Es Nekhtikn di Shtern, however, we shall concentrate on his prose stories, in particular two tales written in the 1970s and 80s, that deal with his life as a Holocaust survivor making his way through contemporary Tel Aviv. Necromantic experiments, encounters with apparitions, and cases of mistaken identity leave the poet suspended between two worlds, and questioning the very nature of reality, art, time, space, and life and death.

The evening is staged by Moshe Yassur, director of the acclaimed Yiddish Waiting for Godot, and features internationally renowned Yiddish theater artists Shane Baker and Miryem-Khaye Seigel.

PLEASE NOTE:
A) The space is unfortunately not differently-abled accessible. You'll need to make it up and down 21 stairs to get into and exit the performance space.

B) A program with précis of the pieces will be provided, but there are no supertitle or oral translations. We can direct you to English translations of the tales if you like, or provide you with the stories in Yiddish in advance of the evening, but the performances are in Yiddish and Yiddish alone.

C) Due to the intimate nature of the space ABSOLUTELY NO LATECOMERS WILL BE ADMITTED.
