About the event:
Meet Lindy West, firebrand author of The New York Times bestselling memoir and now critically acclaimed Hulu TV series Shrill, as she reads from her much-anticipated new book, "The Witches Are Coming" (releasing November 5, Hachette Books).
Q&A and book signing will follow reading.

From the moment powerful men started falling to the #MeToo movement, the lamentations began: this is feminism gone too far, this is injustice, this is a witch hunt. In "The Witches Are Coming," West turns that refrain on its head. You think this is a witch hunt? Fine. You've got one.

Wests new book is a brilliant, incisive cultural critique that explains how patriarchy, intolerance, and misogyny are still alive and well. The conditions that fostered catastrophic resentment and abetted Trump's victory did not spring up in a vacuum; they are woven into America's DNA. West explores how we got here through a long lens of pop culture and examines what comes next. At once side-splittingly funny and thought-provoking, The Witches Are Coming gives us the kindling we need to burn our restrictive and outdated social norms to the ground.

About Lindy West:

In addition to authoring "Shrill" and "The Witches Are Coming," Lindy West is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. Her essays on feminism, social justice, body image, and pop culture have been featured in Jezebel, Cosmopolitan, GQ, and on This American Life. From 2014 to 2017 she wrote a weekly political column for The Guardian. She is also the founder of I Believe You/It's Not Your Fault, an advice blog for teenagers, as well as the reproductive rights destigmatization campaign #ShoutYourAbortion. She lives in Seattle.
