Join Ethnobotanist Kathleen Harrison for a look at the plant life and cultural history of the Sonoma Coast. We will gather to orient ourselves to the native uses of plants from this special region, and then take a meandering hike to see, smell and touch the botanical world in its early fall state of transition. Locations of cultural significance will be pointed out from both indigenous and settler history.
Date: Saturday, September 28 - 2-5pm. (Optional tide pool visit after the class is over, with low tide at 5:30pm.)
Location: We will meet at a private setting near Doctor's Point (Duncan's Landing), north of Bodega Bay, and drive or carpool from there. Meet-up details will be sent upon registration.
PLEASE NOTE: Our walking route will take us on short slopes and across sandy, rocky beaches, as well as on the coastal bluff trail. Walks add up to less than 2 miles total. You are responsible to assess your level of fitness for this hike. It's a simple, slow, plant-watching walk, on sometimes uneven terrain. Wear sturdy walking shoes. We will carpool a short distance for part of the class. You will be required to sign a liability waiver when we first gather.
*Cancellation policy: Full refunds can only be granted if attendee notifies Botanical Dimensions of withdrawal 10 business days in advance of the day of the class. If attendee gives less notice, we regret that no refund is possible. If Botanical Dimensions needs to cancel a class for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible (at least 1 day prior to the event) and you will receive a full refund.
Please contact us at info@botanicaldimensions.org with any questions.
