Susan Cattaneo is one of Bostons most respected songwriters and a 2018 Nominee for Best Americana Act of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. A powerful singer and sophisticated writer, Susan combines vivid storytelling with a modern songwriters spin. Susan blends rock, folk and blues with a healthy dose of country. Call it New England Americana with a twang. Her latest album The Hammer and The Heart charted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and yielded a #1 song on folk radio and a top 10 album of 2017.
The Big Loud Band assembles some of Boston's best musicians: Jamie Walker on electric guitar and vocals (note: Sonya Rae Taylor subbing for this show!), Michael Bean on pedal steel, lap steel, dobro, guitar and vocals, Renee Dupuis on keyboards and vocals, Richard Gates on bass and Andrew Jones on drums.
She has also been a Falcon Ridge Emerging artist and a finalist or winner at some of the countrys most prestigious songwriting and music contests, including the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk, the Independent Music Awards, the Philadelphia Songwriters Project and the Mid-Atlantic Song Cotenst. This fall, she performed and won the 2018 Connecticut Folk Festival.
Sonya Rae Taylor
Boston native Sonya Rae Taylor is a rising star with a blend of gifts rarely found on the blues-rock and soul scene today. Her dazzling musical ability is immediately evident through her soaring vocals, scorching guitar work and savvy song-craft. She has been likened to a fiery female combination of Warren Haynes, Bonnie Raitt and Amy Winehouse.
Sonya is part of the new breed of blues and soul musicians, always searching for new ways to revitalize the form. A triple threat, Sonya is a fiery guitar slinger, soulful blues belter and a songwriter of depth and craft beyond her years. She is joined by her husband Ryan Taylor to form a powerful guitar duo. The couple has logged many miles in their young careers, from Boston to Austin then Nashville, where Sonya was signed by BMG Chrysalis. The two have worked with or shared stage with artists ranging from Austin queen of soul, Tameca Jones, Gary Clark Jr, John Popper of Blues Traveler, John Medeski and Derrico Watson of the Victor Wooten Band and have made TV appearances on shows such as the the ABC series "Nashville". They are two of the finest young guitar players in the scene today and continue to provide audiences with high energy and soulful performances up and down the east coast and beyond.
