Les Sorciers Perdus: "Haunted" Silent Films

Just in time for Halloween, this evening will feature two very different approaches to "haunted" silent films: Buster Keaton's comic short "The Haunted House" [27 min.] and F.W. Murnau's feature-length expressionist psychodrama "The Haunted Castle" [81 min.] - both from 1921.

Les Sorciers Perdus ("The Lost Wizards") has recently premiered Mark's new silent film scores for Carl Theodor Dreyer's "Joan of Arc" at MIFF22, F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu" at the 1932 Criterion Theatre, Victor Sjostrom's "The Phantom Carriage" at The Grand, Allan Dwan's "Robin Hood" at The Strand, and King Vidor's "The Patsy" in midcoast Maine, as well as scores for comic shorts by Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Charley Bowers from Portland up to Eastport and many points between!
