All Hallows Eve approaches, and the Cabiri is dredging up ghastly tales from the depths in preparation for our 13th-annual Ghost Game production October 17-November 2 at Arcadia in Ballard. Devil in the Deep Blue Sea is a collection of tales from myth and folklore, merging contemporary circus, giant puppets, theatre, and dance to create an immersive experience like no other. Join us Saturday October 19, 26, or November 2 from 6-6:45pm for a pre-show talk about the mythos of water and the tales depicted in the production.

This years production dredges up dark and enchanting tales from the realm of water. From sirens caterwauling in the sails to the murky depths where the ravenous kelpie awaits to tangle you in its mane, the ocean lures the damned with irresistible charms. Aerialists twirl and dance overhead and live accompaniment by a trio of musicians transform Arcadia, a 3,700 square foot cultural arts warehouse space, into an enchanted grotto. A chosen few guests will find themselves entangled in the evening's festivities, lured into the mire and transformed into unsuspecting participants in the epic tales unfolding before them. Feeling shy? Not to worry - the participatory elements are not compulsory. Only 50 guests per evening will witness the otherworldly spectacle of Devil in the Deep Blue Sea. Advance ticket purchase is essential - this show sells out every year.

Due to mature subject matter, guests under 16 years of age will not be admitted. Portions of Devil in the Deep Blue Sea entail standing for short periods of time and walking slowly in low light conditions. PLEASE WEAR FLAT SHOES AND LEAVE BACKPACKS AND LARGE PURSES AT HOME as they can create a trip hazard for other audience members.

The Cabiri is a non-profit arts and educational organization based in Seattle, Washington. The organization celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019 and specializes in "performative mythology," depiction of myths and stories from cultures that have passed into antiquity via physical theater, dance, and circus arts.
