Herbs for the Underlying imbalances in Anxiety
If youve been feeling frustrated by the overly simple approach of taking sedative herbs for anxiety, then this class is for you. In this class we will take a look at underlying imbalances that can create a tendency toward anxiety and how to use herbs and other tools to stay in balance. We will discuss heat, stagnation, yin deficiency, blood deficiency and qi deficiency as the main factors and what specific signs and symptoms might indicate each. In addition to physical symptoms, well also be addressing tongue reading briefly, as well as emotional patterns. Throughout the class, we will weave in herbs to help clear heat, move qi, direct energy downward, nourish, anchor, calm and ground.

The last time I taught this class, participants went away with a deeper understanding of what is happening in their bodies and how it is connected with their mood, as well as how better to select herbs to address these.

The class we be taught from a Chinese Medicine perspective, but no prior knowledge of the Chinese system of thought is required.

Bring a notebook, come with questions, and be ready to learn. Natalie is a fast-paced teacher, and she likes to cover as much as possible in the time.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Natalie runs the Adiantum School of Plant Medicine, a local herb school in Seattle, where she teaches classes on plant ID, medicine making, and holistic herbalism. She has spent several years acquiring and synthesizing knowledge about Western Herbalism, PNW Materia Medica, nutrition, and Chinese Medicine. She is particularly passionate about traditional assessment techniques, the effects of emotions on the physical body, and holistic models of understanding imbalance. She also loves to forage and grow medicinal plants of all kinds, because cultivating a direct relationship with the living plant is not only educational but very healing. All in all, she is an empiricist at heart who loves experimentation and exploration into the possibilities of nourishing and strengthening our bodies and souls. As a teacher, Natalie is flexible, engaging and multi-sensory. She has extensive teaching experience, and is always looking for ways to keep things fresh and exciting.
