Bull Run Watershed Tour (currently reserved for City of Gresham employees)

Water Bureau tours offer the unique chance to see firsthand how Portland's drinking water travels from forest to faucet.

During the tour, a professional natural resources educator leads participants through the Bull Run Watershed, discussing Portland's drinking water sources and system. All information is intended for a general audience.

Here's a typical itinerary. Most tours are about eight hours long.
-Board bus
-Stop at the Columbia South Shore Well Field, Portland's groundwater source
-Arrive in Bull Run. One-mile (round-trip) hike to the Bull Run River
-Lunch at Bull Run Lake
-Tour of 1929 dam and drive-by tour of 1962 dam
-Stop at the Bull Run River downstream of the drinking water intake
-Drop off

Here are some essentials to be aware of:
-The tour area is remote. Water Bureau staff carry emergency radios and are trained in first aid; however, cell phones do not work and emergency care can be more than an hour away.
-Restrooms can be up to 2-3 hours apart. Please contact us if limited restroom availability presents a challenge for you.
-Smoking/vaping/e-cigarettes are not allowed.

Signup: One person can register up to six people. Please provide all participants' names.

Refunds: If you need to cancel your registration, you can receive a refund if you give at least three days' notice. If you need to cancel closer to the date itself, we'd appreciate if you let us know (your cancellation might allow someone else to attend) but we can't offer a refund.
