Recording the seven viola sonatas of Paul Hindemith is like running the ultimate viola gauntlet. Not one to shy away from extreme projects (Berio Sequenza, a 12 hour performance of 2 minutes from Marriage of Figaro), Diana Wade has been dreaming of recording these works since the first time she heard one of them live. Over the next six months, Diana and pianist Aron Kallay will be recording the seven sonatas. Villa Aurora has provided a generous amount of funding and a beautiful recording venue, but we need YOUR help to close the gap and appreciate your support!

To celebrate the beginning of this project, Diana Wade and Aron Kallay will perform two of the most well known sonatas of the set at Villa Aurora. You will just have to get the album to hear the deep cuts. Diana will also be sharing some of her stories and insights on her love of the Hindemith Sonatas. She hopes to spread her near-unhealthy obsession with this music, one listener at a time.
