Summer New Wave Sake Dinner
Sake isn't just for Japanese food anymore. Sake pairs even more perfectly with vegetables than wine, and right now a whole new wave of new sakes are electrifying the scene.
On Thursday, June 27 @ 8:15pm we've invited sake sommelier Sam Barickman to host a Summer New Wave Sake Dinner at Dirt Candy. Sam will be pairing an insane line-up of sakes from female producers, microbreweries, and from New York's only sake brewery, Brooklyn Kura, alongside a six course menu from Dirt Candy (including two new dishes that are still in the works).
Tickets are $135 (including tip, but not tax) for a six-course Dirt Candy menu, with sake pairing, that includes:
* Our Seaweed Caviar with avocado, cucumber, and creme fraiche
* Cucumber Salad with kaffir lime & cucumber cream, sake-poached melon & cucumber, ice plant, and sichuan mint oil
* Portobello Mousse with Asian pears and truffle toast
* Fennel Tagine with tomato fennel broth and haricot coco merguez
* Peas! That's all we know right now, but this dish is going to be a lot of fun
* Radish! For dessert! Again, that's all we know at the moment because Shannon Murphy, our pastry chef, is experimenting with something crazy.
Sam will be on hand to talk about all the sakes you're drinking and to answer all your questions about sake, and everyone at Dirt Candy is really curious about those last two dishes. So come on down and find out with us!
