UW Guitar Summer Workshop
An ensemble-based guitar immersion experience, for serious guitarists of all levels of experience! Featuring some of the Northwest's best classical guitarists: Michael Partington, Jon Yerby, Michael Millham and Kevin Callahan, and special guest Connie Sheu of the Pasadena Conservatory. A packed schedule will include Technique Workshops, Lectures, Masterclasses, Coaching and Rehearsals. There'll be concerts by the faculty members and a special performance on Sunday by all the workshop participants. Activities start at 9 AM each day, running until 5.30 PM on Friday and Saturday with a break for lunch. There'll be concerts by the faculty on those evenings and your registration includes admission to those. Sunday activities start at 9 AM, culminating in the student concert at noon, and we expect to be done by 1.30 PM on that day. Ability to read music is required, and a minimum 1 year experience with classical guitar is recommended. Some activities will be split into groups with more or less experience. During registration you'll be asked to select Alpha or Omega: Omega is intended for players with 4 years or more of private lessons, Alpha for those with less. If you feel you've picked the wrong group once the workshop starts, it's never too late to switch!
