Precast/Prestressed Concrete Applications

Description:
Concrete Technology Corporation (CTC) was established in 1951 as one of the first dedicated prestressed concrete manufacturing facilities in the nation. Precast/prestressed concrete products are a material of choice for thousands of bridge, marine, floating structure and building projects throughout the Puget Sound. Presentation topics will include:

Product applications for marine use, including conventional marine products (piles) and cross-over products (bridge girders)

An overview of the plant production process for conventional precast products and floating structures

Review of standard concrete and reinforcing raw materials, as well as less common materials such as lightweight concrete, self-consolidating concrete and premium reinforcing options

Supplier specification perspectives

Discussion of alternate project delivery methods and their impact on suppliers

Jim Parkins, P.E., M.ASCE
Sales Manager, Concrete Technology Corporation (CTC)  

Cameron West is the Chief Engineer for Concrete Technology Corporation (CTC). He has 15 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and quality control of precast/prestressed concrete products.  Cameron was instrumental in CTCs development and implementation of SCC and lightweight concrete mixtures for numerous agencies and owners.  He is a member of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Committees on Concrete Materials Technology and PCI Design Handbook.

Jim Parkins is a Sales Manager for Concrete Technology Corporation (CTC). In his first three years at CTC he was a project manager for bridge and commercial products.  For the past 16 years, Jims role has been development, estimation and contracting for marine construction and Sound Transit aerial guideway products.  Jim has recently been involved with fixed structures at P-1405 Whidbey Breakwater, Pier 4, Coleman Dock and Pier 62.  Recent floating structure projects include Pier 50 and the Juneau Cruise ship pontoons.
