Kia Flow -- "Finding My Flow"

Finding my flow is based on the journey taken by Kia Flow. She gives the audience a chance to see her growth and transition between Sharday, Takia and then to Kia Flow. For many years she either felt her voice was nonexistent or not yet heard. Kia on many occasions has desires to be something bigger than what she could ever imagine herself to be, but fear and sometimes lack of encouragement prevented her from making that move. Until she made a regrettable mistake, that caused her to pick up the pen and write her way to forgiveness. She wrote her first poem after cheating on a boyfriend and began a career that she thought she'd never get a chance to experience. Poetry allowed her voice reign and put a light on the path of her flow.
A native of Jacksonville Fla., Kia Flow admits she's no stranger to the game. It was poetry that lifted her veil to sharpen her perspective and allow her to reflect in depth. In a short period of time, Kia Flow started to make a name for herself in the local poetry community. Immediately booking gigs to perform, host and feature opened many doors for her along the way. Acting has always been the second nature of Ms. Flow, so there was no surprise that she would get her feet wet in theater. She landed a role on bLackWomanDynamikReBorn written and produced by Jana Bradley. Kia Flow also began to take her works on the road making her presence known outside of Jacksonville. Performing anywhere from Orlando, Miami, Tampa and Gainesville FL to St Louis MO, Mobile AL and Atlanta GA to name a few. She participated in the 2012 Savannah Urban Arts Fest and simultaneously released her EP Just Use it as a Coaster that included 5 tracks that she actually wanted you to listen to! In 2013 Kia Flow released her mini web series Going with the Flow on Youtube. She was inducted into Black on Black Rhyme Jacksonville and she relocated to Charlotte continuing to make her name reign through the poetry community there. She was honored to be requested to perform at the Tamika Fest in 2014. She also performed for YWCA's Stand Against Racism Rally for 2 consecutive years. Poetry competitions piqued her interest once she moved to NC. She admits that it has sharpened her performance skills and silenced much of her stage fright. Kia feels that competing in Southern Fried 2015 in Little Rock Arkansas, 2017 Louisville KY, 2018 San Antonio TX and also being the first person to represent SlamCharlotte for both WOWPS Dallas TX, and iWPS San Diego CA have been her best experiences in poetry so far. Kia also has done radio including her own show Going with the Flow Radio Show on Blog Talk.
