The Vagina Monologues - International Woman's Day
Join us for a night of women's empowerment featuring The Vagina Monologues (TVM)

An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who liked to look at it.

Ensler breaks taboos by talking, talking and talking some more - stripping fear and shame from what she celebrates here. It makes for quite a party. Funny, outrageous, emotionally affecting, and occasionally angry. The Vagina Monologues confront words to demystify and disarm them. In so doing, Ensler disarms the audience too. Associated Press calls it spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving. Written with a bluntness that is nevertheless intensely lyrical, it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction.

Join us next year on Feb. 14th for One Billion Rising it is the biggest mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) in human history. Join us and Rise Up to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and to shine a light on the  injustice that survivors often face. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness  one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable.

Based on dozens of interviews with women, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices that addresses women's sexuality and the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse, creating a new conversation about and with women. The play is meant to act as a mechanism for moving people to act to end violence.
