Justice For All: Heroes
Join us for our second annual Justice for All concert series! We, Rainbow City Performing Arts, aim to embody the spirit of inclusion in which we make music performance accessible to everyone by featuring diverse performers, composers, and audience members!

We strive to open our rehearsal space to any person regardless of race, religion, gender identity, orientation, skill level, or any other differentiating quality. Justice for All gives us a unique opportunity, through a newly formed tradition, to program concerts in this all-inclusive approach to social justice and at times activism, through musical performance.

In our 2019 Transformations Season, Rainbow City Concert Band will present an exciting program entitled Heroes with music celebrating everyday people and how, in times of struggle or necessity, we have the capacity to transform and conquer adversity. We want to shine a light on these transformations to our fellow community members, especially in our audience. We hope to recognize the teachers, doctors, care givers, civil servants, and servant leaders of all types who put their hearts into making our world a better place through important work that is often unrecognized.

With music ranging from Samuel Barber to Julie Giroux and pieces dedicated to Rosa Parks, Tecumseh, and Amelia Earhart, this concert will touch all parts of what it means to be a hero. Well even feature one of our own members, Allison Fortenberry, singing a selection from La Cage Aux Folles.

In between music selections, our guest speaker, Marsha Botzer will share her story. Marsha has servedthe Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and progressive communities for over 41 years, as a founding member of Equality Washington, and on boards of Pride Foundation, Safe Schools, Lambert House, Seattle Counseling Service and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. A founding member of Equal Rights Washington, a past co-chair of Seattles LBGT Commission, Marsha served as co-chair of The National LGBTQ Task Force in 2005-6, 2009-10, and as Chair of the Action Fund in 2015. She is a founding member of Out In Front Leadership Project, founded Seattles internationally known Ingersoll Gender Center, and served as a national co-chair of the 2008 Obama Pride Campaign.

This concert will have something for every community member, from toe tapping exuberance to beautiful somber moments of reflection. It will be an evening you won't want to missan evening to celebrate the everyday heroes in our lives.
