Wild Rumpus: Remembrances
Wild Rumpus presents Remembrances, an evening of music evoking past musics, people, and moments in time. Chris Cresswells We study our past to move forward for bass clarinet and electronics revisits and reworks leftover fragments from his own music. Eve Beglarians From the Same Melancholy Fate, for soloist with electronics and video, exists in a constant state of evolution, incorporating the performers past recordings of the piece as its own ever-deepening accompaniment. Sun Stands Still, by Amanda Feery for piano, percussion, and contrabass, distills memories and emotions of winter solstice. We also revisit two Wild Rumpus commissions, Julian Days Father for ensemble and electronics, and Eliza Browns in hora mortis nostrae. Browns piece takes as its basis a 17th century hymn setting by Johann Melchior Gletle, and more particularly, her response to a particular performance of the piece. Similarly, Georg Haas Tria ex uno is a meditation on a movement of the Missa Lhomme Armé super voces musicales by Josquin des Prez.
