Lee Ranaldo + Alan Licht + Loren Connors & Chris Forsyth
Chris Forsyth has earned a reputation as one of the most distinctive and critically acclaimed guitarists working today. Pitchfork called his music a near-perfect balance between 70s rock tradition and present-day experimentation, NPR Music named Forsyth one of rocks most lyrical guitar improvisers, and the New York Times calls him a scrappy and mystical historian His music humanizes the element of control in rock classicism (and) turns it into a woolly but disciplined ritual. Since his work with Peeesseye in the 2000s, hes recorded several albums solo, with his Solar Motel Band, and with collaborators, including Koen Holtkamp and Nate Wooley.
Alan Lichts repertoire of structured improvisation pieces for electric guitar bring together his interests in re-harmonization jazz and classical music), process, repetition, and extended duration (Minimalism), and the textural vocabularies of rock and noise. He is revered for his work with the Blue Humans (Rudolph Grey), Loren Connors, Text of Light, Run On and Love Child. He's worked with Tom Verlaine, Yoko Ono, and Arthur Lee. He has toured and recorded with Lee Ranaldo and the Dust, an improv trio with Aki Onda and artist/filmmaker Michael Snow, and a duo with Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase. Licht is also an author and frequent contributor to Art Forum.
Lee Ranaldo co-founded Sonic Youth in 1981 and has been active on the New York music and art scene for the past 35 years as composer, performer and producer; also exhibiting visual art and publishing books of journals and poetry. His LP Electric Trim was released in September 2017 on Mute Records. Recent live performances with partner Leah Singer, Contre Jour, have been large scale, multi-projection sound+light events with suspended electric guitar phenomena that challenge the usual performer/audience relationship. His artwork has been exhibited internationally. A new collaborative quartet album with Jim Jarmusch will be released soon on Trost records. Lee lives in New York City.
