Bring It To The Table: All in the Timing by David Ives

For years, I've wanted to start an event where people came over to my house, I fed them dinner, and we sat around and did a cold read of a script. I wanted to create something that scratches the theatre itch without having to go to an audition, worry about getting cast, commit to the rehearsal process that takes time away from work, etc. I also wanted to create something where type-casting based on age, looks, gender, or anything else goes out the window. You wanna read a part? You read the part you wanna read. I wanted to have the opportunity to regularly read plays I wouldn't normally just sit down and read by myself. I wanted to get input from other people about what we could read next. This is how I learn and expand my horizons. I need you people, always. Mostly I just want to have fun.

So... you are invited to the Bring It To The Table play-reading event! All you need to bring to the table is yourself and a copy of the script, which I will email to you and you can either print out or use an iPad or tablet to read it on.

We decide who is reading what part before we start. Depending on the ratio of parts to participants, some people will not read at all. You should come because you will enjoy hearing the play read, regardless of whether or not you get to read a part.

Reserve a ticket for yourself. They're free, there are only a certain number of them, and it tells me how many to cook for. And don't cancel at the last minute or no-show or I will ban you from them for life. I'm serious about my fun.
