Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas Concert
Alasdair Fraser is one of the greatest carriers of the Scottish fiddle music tradition, a consummate musician whos warmly expressive playing, mastery of his instrument, and deep understanding of his native music as a venerable and continually evolving art is an inspiration to generations of musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. Through his dedicated and innovative teaching programs, he has been sharing his passion for traditional music, abundant skills, and musical wisdom at the Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School, which he founded among the Californian Redwoods in 1984 and still directs, the fiddle course that hes run on the Isle of Skye since 1987, and the more recently established Sierra Fiddle Camp, near his home in California.
Natalie Haas is one of the most sought after cellists in traditional music today. Her musical journey found purpose when, at age 11, she fell in love with Celtic music at Frasers Valley of the Moon camp. Inspired and encouraged by Fraser, she began to investigate the cello's potential for rhythmic accompaniment to fiddle tunes. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Natalie has performed and recorded with many of the world's most outstanding traditional and progressive string musicians and ensembles. As an educator, she is one of the most in-demand teachers at fiddle camps across the globe. She also teaches privately and in at workshops, and holds an associate professorship at the Berklee College of Music
Since 2003, Alasdair and Natalie have dedicated their finely honed collaboration to restoring the fiddle-cello partnership that flourished in eighteenth century Scotland to contemporary prominence, always at the cutting edge of creativity rooted in this and, now, other compelling musical traditions as well. Since having their debut album, Fire and Grace, win Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2004, they have tirelessly continued to thrill audiences world-wide with their virtuosic playing, near-telepathic understanding, joyful spontaneity, and the stunning physical presence of their music.

On February 13th, 2019, Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas will bring their impeccable musicianship and stunning repertoire to Gainesville, Florida, for a 7:00 pm concert at The Historic Thomas Center, 302 NE 6th Ave., an intimate venue where limited seating quickly sells out. Advance concert tickets are available here for $25 ($15 for students), plus a small service fee for Brown Paper Tickets.
